Hwlitsum First Nation

The traditional territory of the Hwlitsum First Nation encompasses a large portion of the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, the Gulf Islands and a portion of Vancouver Island. Hwlitsum (Canoe Pass) and Lamalchi (Kuper Island) are the spiritual centres of the Hwlitsum First Nation.

The territory extends north to Snaw-Naw-As First Nation (Nanoose Bay First Nation), west of Lake Cowichan to the territory of the Nuu-chah-nulth speaking peoples-south tot he Northern Straits tribes, the Duwamish, and east to Yale, along the Fraser River.
