Kwakiutl traditional territory and waters are along the northeastern shores of Vancouver Island, with its main community in Fort Rupert. There are approximately 770 Kwakiutl members.

Kwakiutl has overlapping and/or shared territory with its First Nation neighbours: Gwa’Sala-Nakwaxda’xw, ’Namgis, Quatsino, Tanakteuk and Tlatlasikwala
